Dhaka: Bangladesh’s dengue outbreak has killed at least 201 people this year, as per the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)’s report.

The total number of dengue fever cases in the country has reached 37,688 since January, and during this period, 29,560 dengue patients have returned home after receiving treatment from various hospitals across the country.

Bangladesh health authorities have strengthened measures to check the breeding of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes and conduct anti-larval operations to fight the alarming number of dengue cases.

No vaccine or drug can specifically treat dengue fever, which is common during monsoons in South Asia, as the mosquitoes which spread the disease grow in stagnant water.
