New Delhi: The members of a far-right group with plans to overthrow German government have been arrested.

The group involving 25 members was plotting to storm the Parliament to seize power and install a prince in power.

Heinrich XIII, who is a member of a German royal family, was the alleged mastermind behind the coup, according German police.

Inspired by conspiracy theories of Reichsbuerger and QAnon, the group reportedly sought backing of Russia.

They wanted to induct Heinrich XIII as the leader of the future kingdom with Ruediger, another suspect, as the head of the military.

The group had been toying with the idea of building up new German army.

As part of forming the government after coup, the group set up a "council", which met regularly since 2021 and acted as an administration-in-waiting with various departments including foreign affairs and health, according to Reuters.

Meanwhile, Russia reportedly denied any involvement calling the far-right plot an 'internal problem".

Describing the group " enemies of democracy', German minister Nancy Faeser said the government will respond with "full force of law".

The group reportedly had been procuring equipment, recruiting new members and holding shooting lessons when they were arrested.

They were targeting to recruit members of the military and police officers.

Officially there are no princess or princesses in Germany today after the monarchy was abolished a century ago.

After the Weimar Constitution was adopted, the legal privileges and titles of German nobility were removed.
