Instagram plans to introduce profile sharing feature for stories
text_fieldsInstagram is reportedly gearing up to launch a new addition to its platform.
Users might soon be able to share another user's Instagram profile directly onto their Stories, aligning with the existing "Add to Story" functionality.
Initially introduced in 2016, Instagram Stories rapidly gained immense popularity by allowing users to post photos and videos that vanish within 24 hours. This interactive feature transformed Instagram's landscape, reaching a staggering 500 million daily users in 2019. Now, the platform, owned by Meta, previously known as Facebook, is on the brink of unveiling this new feature.
Renowned developer Alessandro Paluzzi, also known as @alex193a, hinted at this potential feature on X (formerly Twitter).
According to Paluzzi, Instagram is working on a feature enabling users to share other profiles seamlessly within their Stories. The mechanism mirrors the existing "Add to Story" option, empowering users to exhibit another profile on their Story, encouraging their followers to explore and follow the mentioned account.
The screenshot shared by Paluzzi highlights a "View Profile" button within Stories, enticing viewers to visit the referenced profile. Once live, this feature is anticipated to facilitate profile sharing, potentially amplifying visibility and follower count for content creators and influencers. Similar to the fleeting nature of Stories content, these profile invitations are expected to vanish after 24 hours, absent from the profile grid or feed.
Instagram has recently rolled out several enhancements, including song lyrics display for Reels, offering users more customisation options with their favorite tunes. Additionally, the platform introduced new editing tools for Reels, allowing users to crop and rotate individual clips for enhanced creativity.
Expanding its features, the Meta-owned app extended the Close Friends feature, enabling users to share exclusive posts and Reels visible only to specific individuals on their list. Concurrently, Meta introduced a subscription plan for Instagram users in the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), and Switzerland, offering an ad-free experience for a fee.
