Drop mention of Tablighi Jamaat from medical bulletins: Minorities commission
text_fieldsNew Delhi: As tarnishing of Tablighi Jamaatis continues, the Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) on Thursday urged Delhi’s health department not to mention Tablighi Jamaat in its daily bulletin.
The health bulletin released each day had a separate column 'Markaz Masjid', which was being misused by some elements, said the Commission’s chairperson Zafarul-Islam Khan in a letter to the department.
The categorization by the government led to attacks on the community across the nation. The Commission urged the government to drop the categorization.
Any Muslim is being dubbed as Tablighi causing calls for their social boycott, said the letter.
However, sources in the Delhi government said they hadn't received the letter yet.
The source however, reportedly, said that the categorization was to stop people panicking over the rise in the number of cases.
