Currency printing in China baseless, says Centre
text_fieldsNew Delhi: The government on Monday rubbished reports that a Chinese company gained contract for printing Indian currency
“Reports about any Chinese currency printing corporation getting any orders for printing Indian currency notes are totally baseless. Indian currency notes are being and will be printed only in Indian government and RBI currency presses,” ANI quoted Subash Chandra Garg, secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, as saying.
Meanwhile, AAP sought clarification from the Centre government regarding a report about the said currency printing appeared in a Chinese newspaper.
Aam Aadmi Party( AAP) national spokesperson Raghav Chadha dubbed it a ‘ big threat to India’s national security”.
The report in South China Morning Post said that the state-owned China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation received contracts from nations including to India to print currencies.
The report quoting Liu Guisheng, president of the China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation said that since Beijing launched the belt and road plan his company had, “successfully won contracts for currency production including Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia,India, Brazil and Poland.
