Dubai: As the ninth month of the Islamic calendar approaches, Muslims worldwide prepare to observe Ramadan, a period of fasting, prayer and reflection. This year, Ramadan is expected to commence on Tuesday, March 12, marking a significant time for the Muslim community in the UAE and beyond.

During Ramadan, Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from dawn until sunset, focusing instead on spiritual growth, self-discipline and acts of charity. The holy month serves as a time of heightened devotion, with individuals seeking to deepen their connection with their faith through prayer and reflection.

Central to the spirit of Ramadan is the act of giving, exemplifying values of generosity, empathy, and community support. Across the UAE, numerous initiatives and charitable endeavours are organized to support those in need during this auspicious time.

Volunteering has emerged as a cornerstone of Ramadan charity efforts, with many young individuals eager to contribute to iftar tents, food distribution programs and community service projects. However, residents need to be aware of and adhere to local regulations to ensure their charitable activities comply with the law and avoid potential penalties.

One of the primary forms of charity during Ramadan is Sadaqah, which encompasses various acts of giving, including monetary donations, providing food to the needy, assisting vulnerable individuals and supporting charitable causes. Residents are encouraged to explore different avenues through which they can make a meaningful impact in their communities.

For those interested in donating iftar meals, official channels registered with the Islamic Affairs & Charitable Department (IACAD) provide a secure and organized platform for contributions. By leading their donations through authorized channels, residents can ensure that their charitable efforts reach those who need them most, by Islamic principles and ethical guidelines.

Some options for individuals can donate iftar meals and support their communities are:

1. Dubai Charity Association
