Dubai: Paid parking system comes into effect in Discovery Gardens
text_fieldsParking in Discovery Gardens became paid on Thursday, January 15, as part of a move to improve space management and reduce congestion in the community.
Residents and visitors have begun noticing newly installed parking zone signage as Parkonic launched its paid parking services across the community.
Under the new system, each residential unit in buildings with no existing parking is eligible for one free parking permit. Additional vehicles require a paid subscription, with a monthly membership set at Dh945 and a quarterly membership at Dh2,625, offering a Dh210 saving compared to paying monthly.
Residents can activate their free parking permits through the Parkonic tenant registration portal. Paid parking subscriptions are also available through the Parkonic website and mobile app. The community developer, Nakheel, sent emails requesting residents to secure parking before enforcement began.
Parking meters are operating with variable charges depending on the time of day. From 8am to 5pm, parking is charged at Dh4 per hour, while from 5pm to midnight, the rate increases to Dh6 per hour. Parking is free from midnight until 8am.
According to the notice, free permit applications opened on December 24, 2025, while paid permit subscriptions started on January 9.
