Dubai completes first phase of Dh500m drainage network in Al Quoz
text_fieldsDubai has announced the completion of the first phase of a Dh500 million sewerage and stormwater drainage network in Al Quoz, part of efforts to strengthen flood protection across the emirate.
The project serves Al Quoz Industrial Areas 1, 2, 3 and 4, as well as a key stretch between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.
The first phase, with an investment of Dh250 million, included the construction of 14 kilometres of stormwater drainage systems and 15 kilometres of sewerage networks.
The work forms part of the Dh30 billion Tasreef program launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, following widespread flooding caused by heavy rainfall in April 2024.
The UAE also experienced further storms at the end of March, which, although less severe, led to travel disruption and flooded roads in several areas.
In June 2025, Dubai Municipality completed a separate Dh277 million sewerage and rainwater drainage network in Nad Al Sheba, spanning 24 kilometres and adding 11 kilometres of household connections to the main system.
