Abu Dhabi has launched its first vertiport network to support advanced air mobility across the emirate. The initiative is led by the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) in collaboration with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), and Abu Dhabi Airports (ADA).

Part of the Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster strategy, the project aims to advance Abu Dhabi’s innovation-driven economic diversification through new air mobility technologies.

The network will support electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft at more than 10 locations, linking major business, tourism and residential areas, including Zayed International Airport, Al Bateen Executive Airport, Yas Island, Saadiyat and Abu Dhabi Island. Each vertiport will be connected to the wider transport system to enable efficient, low-emission travel.

Abu Dhabi Airports has been appointed anchor investor and delivery partner. The GCAA and Abu Dhabi Mobility will establish and oversee regulatory and operational standards to ensure safety, performance and integration within the emirate’s airspace and transport systems.

GCAA Director-General Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi said the project aligns with national efforts to integrate advanced air mobility into the UAE’s civil aviation network through updated regulations and adaptable infrastructure.

ADIO Director-General Badr Al-Olama said the partnership between government entities and the private sector reflects Abu Dhabi’s focus on developing next-generation mobility industries.

Dr Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director-General of Abu Dhabi Mobility, said the initiative provides a clear governance and operational framework for future urban transport.

Abu Dhabi Airports CEO Elena Sorlini said the company will lead infrastructure development and operational planning to prepare for commercial use of advanced air mobility in the emirate.
