Residents and visitors in Abu Dhabi’s Musaffah area will soon pay for public parking as authorities roll out a new paid parking system in one of the emirate’s busiest industrial zones.

According to Q Mobility, phase one of the paid parking system in Musaffah will be activated from January 12 to ease congestion and improve traffic flow. Paid parking will be introduced in sectors M1, M2, M3, M4 and M24, covering 4,680 parking spaces, including designated bays for People of Determination.

The standard parking fee will be Dh2 per hour. Payment will be available through digital channels such as the Darb and Tamm applications, SMS and on-site payment machines, offering what authorities described as a flexible and seamless user experience. The system forms part of an integrated plan to improve public parking management, enhance the road user experience and support commercial activity by making access to industrial and commercial facilities easier for visitors and employees.

Musaffah, located in Abu Dhabi, is one of the emirate’s major industrial and commercial zones, with high traffic density driven by diverse economic activities and the daily flow of employees and visitors. As demand for public parking has increased, challenges have emerged, including difficulty finding available spaces and random parking, affecting traffic flow and mobility efficiency in the area.

The activation of the paid parking system aims to regulate parking use and improve vehicle flow, facilitating access to facilities and enhancing road safety. Authorities say the initiative also supports economic activity and contributes to a more organised and efficient working environment.

In November 2025, a paid parking system was activated in Abu Dhabi’s Al Shahamah area. The system covers 3,704 parking spaces across New and Old Al Shahamah, with fees set at Dh2 per hour and payment available through the Darb and Tamm applications.

The step, implemented under the supervision of the Integrated Transport Centre of the emirate’s Department of Municipalities and Transport, aims to increase the efficiency of parking space usage.

Parking regulations, which generally include paid parking management, began in commercial areas of Mohamed Bin Zayed City in mid-December 2025 under a Q Mobility initiative to better organise vehicle movement.

Earlier, in July 2025, new paid parking areas were launched in key locations including Eastern Mangroves, Dolphin Park and sectors along Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street and Al Qurm Plaza, as part of Q Mobility’s ongoing efforts to expand Abu Dhabi’s regulated parking network.
