Thiruvanthapuram: Keeping in sight the 2019 election to the Parliament, CPM I (Communist Party of India Marxist- CPM) is fast heading to the finishing line in its first phase of preparation for the 2019 Parliament election.

In the wake of inferences that election would be held earlier the central committee has decided to make arrangements at the state level.

The government is wadding through myriads of challenges. While fully aware of them, the party is all set to capitalise on the weak points of the opposition. In order to review the first phase of preparations as well as planning future course of action, the party will convene a three-day leadership meeting from Thursday.

The workshops focusing on 140 constituencies will be finished byWednesday. The meeting assessed the overall political situation, gains and issues in developmental activities as well as performance of LDF in the last three elections in each constituency.

When the performance in each booth of the constituencies is analysed, special attention is being given to those where BJP has finished first and second. Organisational precautions are also being suggested to not repeat the flaws by analysing the reasons behind the LDF lagging behind. The entire exercise is being carried out boosted by the confidence from the Chengannur by-poll victory

The direction is to make the necessary preparations knowing the demands of the voters in order to retain the upper hand gained by the Left Front in three consecutive elections.

The CPM calculates that they would be able to bring the issues raised by the voters before the leadership and resolve them through government machinery.

The constituency-based meetings will be attended by the booth committee secretary, local committee secretary, members of the area and district committees, representatives of the local self bodies and MLAs.

Although K M Mani has returned to UDF, CPM is of the view that the Congress is failing in reinforcing the UDF and in leading the opposition.

There is also the observation that the lack of a leader had rendered BJP insignificant, thereby creating a favourable situation.
