Kuttippuram: Five units of bomb squad under the leadership of DIG Sparjan Kumar have begun a detailed inspection of the spot in Kuttippuram where mines and bullets were detected.
Two pierce steel plate (PSP) were recovered from the area. PSP's are normally used to prevent army vehicles fromd getting jammed in marshy land.
One of the PSP's was found three feet deep in the sand, and another was deeper in water. The efforts to drain water our of the spot of bullets, and to conduct further search failed. Later the police waded into the water and discovered the PSP. In searches conducted by the police on Thursday, about 500 bullets and allied items were uncovered from the river, bound in a gunny bag.
