UAE Slaps Travel Ban on Binoy Kodiyeri following Debt case
text_fieldsAmidst the raging controversy regarding the financial liability of Binoy Kodiyeri, son of CPI-M state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in the UAE and the reports about mediation efforts by certain business figures, the UAE authorities have slapped a travel ban on Binoy.
He was accused of default in a reportedly 13 crore debt case to JAAS Tourism of Dubai who complained to the Dubai Police. As a result of this, Binoy who arrived at the airport for travel to India, was intercepted at the Dubai airport and held up.
As per reports, he has been ordered to submit his passport for safekeeping in the court's safe. The order also states that the travel ban will be repealed on his paying up the one million UAE Dirham he owed, or presenting a bank bail for the amount.
The UAE law generally provides for such travel ban to be imposed by authorities at the request of creditors who seek legal intervention to stop debtors from travelling out of the country until the dues are settled.
