HC comments against Vellappally in micro-finance scam case
text_fieldsKochi: The High Court on Monday came down heavily on SNDP Yogam chief Vellappally Natesan in the micro-finance scam. The Court wondered how it can nullify the case at the very inception of the enquiry.
The bench also asked why the Vigilance could not conduct a raid if Natesan did not provide the documents required by the enquiry team.
The Court commented that there is evidence of misappropriation in the micro-finance case and cited that SNDP was included in the micro-finance scheme without conformity to norms. The government too requested the court not to cancel the case of financial irregularities against Vellappally.
The court's remarks came while considering the petition by Vellappally and four others involved praying to the court to cancel the case against them for procuring a loan from KSFDC violating criteria. The original complaint was filed by V Achuthanandan, currently chairman of Administrative Reforms Commission.
