Kochi: Kerala High Court on Thursday struck down the order of Central Health ministry barring admissions to four self-financing medical colleges in Kerala.
The four colleges are: DM Institute of Medical Sciences, Wayanad, Al-Azhar Medical College, Thodupuzha, SR Medical College, Varkala and PK Das Institute Institute of Medical Sciences, Palakkad. The court gave permission to these four colleges to conduct admission.
The court also issued directions to the Entrance Examination Commissioner that these colleges can be cleared for MBBS admissions.
The Central health ministry had barred admission to these colleges citing inadequate basic amenities. The four medical colleges combined have a seat strength of 550.
