UAE extends $100 mn for Kerala rebuilding: Chief Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday announced that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended $100 million (Rs 700 crore) as financial assistance to rebuild the flood-ravaged state.

He also informed that this was conveyed by the Heir Apparent of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan to MA Yusuf Ali, chairman of LuLu group, when the latter met the Heir Apparent. He noted that the UAE has stood by Kerala in its hour of need.He expressed his thanks for the UAE government and its rulers.

Pinarayi also mentioned that he has conveyed the information about the UAE promise to the prime minister. He referred to the strong emotional bond existing between Malayalees and the Gulf countries, which is like second home for Keralites. Reciprocally, the Arab society also has an emotion concern for Keralites, the chief minister added.
