Jalandhar: The probe team investigating the nun-rape case completed nine-hour long quizzing of the accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal yesterday.

Discrepancies were found in his statement and the date on which the Bishop had stayed at the Kuruvilangad Abbey, said Vaikom DySP K Subhash to Madhyamam.

Meanwhile, police have collected the Bishop’s phone number and details in his computer. The Bishop told the probe team that he was ready for any scientific investigation.

Diocese authorities claimed to have convinced police of the Bishop’s innocence.

Despite arriving at Bishop House around 3.15 pm, the police had to wait for the Bishop until 8 pm before he turned up. The questioning went on till 5 am in the morning.

Meanwhile, mediapersons from Kerala were manhandled by private security personnel employed at the Bishop House, damaging their cameras.

The journalists who suffered bruises in the scuffle included Media One reporter Robin Mathew, cameraman Sanoj Kumar, Rebin Vincent Gralan of Mathrubhumi News, and cameraman Vishakh Jayapalan, among others.
