Jalandhar: The nuns at Missionaries of Jesus in Jalandhar reportedly gave statement to the police against Bishop Franco Mulakkal, the accused in the nun-rape case.

Four priests corroborated what the nuns said about the unacceptable behaviour of the Bishop during a prayer retreat named “Idayanodoppam oru divasam’ (A day with the shepherd)

Nuns had complained that the bishop had called them to his room even at midnight ostensibly for this prayer.

The prayer programme was later called off following complaints from the nuns against the bishop’s misbehaviour.

The police would further probe into the reasons behind discontinuing the monthly prayer retreat.

The team probing the case led by Vaikkom DySP Subash recorded the statements of the nuns and priests on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bishop has not been quizzed yet, citing security reasons. It is learnt that police have decided to quiz the bishop after collecting evidence.
