Madrid: Ecuador is in talks with Britain to end WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s limbo-like life at Ecuador’s Embassy in London.
Ecuador’s President Lenin Moreno said as much in an interview published in El Pais on Sunday.
The whistleblower has been holed up in the embassy since he was granted asylum in 2012.
Last year, Swedish authorities dropped charges against him. However, Assange is wanted in Britain for breaching bail conditions.
In the latest development, Moreno who visited Britain last week suggested as an “Ideal” solution that Assange should accept “penalty” for having breached British bail conditions.
Additionally, he “will be extradited to a country where does not face any danger”, reports quoted him as saying.
