New Delhi : Jayant Choudhary, head of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), rejected exit poll predictions on Tuesday that the BJP would win in the UP Assembly election and said SP-RLD will form the state government on March 10.

The results cannot be known until the EVMs are opened, Choudhary told ANI in an exclusive interview. "Whatever we were able to implement through the public, we did. The people have also cast their votes. Exit polls are conducted. I have not seen anyone conducting them at booths during voting. This process is not acceptable to me."

"We saw the enthusiasm and determination of the public during campaigning. They showed faith and confidence in our alliance. I think the survey has yielded different results," the RLD chief added.

Choudhary said exit polls were aimed at creating 'pressure' and demoralizing those who want change in Uttar Pradesh.

"There is no doubt that our alliance will form the government in UP this time. All this (exit polls) is an attempt to create mental pressure. It's a way to demoralize the people who want a change in the state. Sometimes people form their opinions on the basis of others' statements," he added.

The RLD chief took aim at UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, adding, "Some people went around with bulldozers during their election campaigns instead of doing anything for the state."

Exit polls indicate that the Bharatiya Janata Party will likely retain power in Uttar Pradesh.
