text_fieldsLucknow: Three individuals were apprehended on charges of allegedly engaging in vandalism, assault, and urinating on the wall of a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office located in Shahjahanpur district, Uttar Pradesh.
The incident occurred at 10 pm on Wednesday, according to the police report. After encountering a man named Shashank Gupta urinating on the office wall, several RSS workers intervened and requested him to desist.
Shahjahanpur Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena said, “When asked to stop, Gupta hurled abusive slurs at the RSS workers. Later, Gupta’s associates beat up the people who had stopped him from urinating and vandalised the RSS office. The SP (city) and the Circle Officer went to the spot with force and brought the situation under control.”
In his complaint, RSS office bearer Ravi Mishra alleged that the accused pelted stones and fired at them in which three RSS workers sustained minor injuries.
“A few RSS workers sustained some injuries and were hospitalised after the incident. They were later discharged,” said an officer.
Meena added, “A case has been lodged based on a complaint under relevant sections. Shashank Gupta (32), Shivank Gupta (30) and Mukesh Gupta (60) have been arrested. We are scanning the CCTV footage and a hunt is on for the others. Four teams have been formed to nab the other accused.”
The police added that Shashak and Shivank are brothers and Mukesh is their father. “Two other named accused are Shekhar and Aman Gupta. We are looking for them. A case has also been lodged against 40-50 unidentified accused as well,” said a police officer of the Sadar Bazaar police station.
