New Delhi: The Union government has renamed the Mughal Garden in Rashtrapati Bhavan to 'Amrit Udyan". On Saturday, the government claimed that the renaming is on the basis of the theme 'Amrit Mahotsav', which marked 75 years of Independence in India.

Press secretary to President Droupadi Murmu, Navika Gupta, informed that on the occasion of the celebrations of 75 years of Indian Independence as 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', the President of India renamed the Rashtrapati Gardens as Amrit Udyan.

The President will inaugurate the gardens on Sunday, January 29. It will be open to the public from January 31 to March 26. Opening the gardens for the public from February to March, when the flowers bloom, is an annual routine.

In addition to the two-month interval for the public to visit the gardens, the government has also planned for time slots for special groups, farmers and the differently abled, India Today reported.

The Mughal Garden, renamed 'Amrit Udyan', houses the Rectangular, Long and Circular Gardens, the Herbal Garden, Musical Garden and the Spiritual Garden.
