PM Modi accorded Guard of Honour at Kuwait's Bayan Palace

Kuwait: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was ceremonially welcomed with a Guard of Honour at Bayan Palace in Kuwait on Sunday. The honour was conferred in the presence of Kuwaiti Prime Minister Mohammed Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the Gulf nation in 43 years.

During his two-day visit, PM Modi is scheduled to hold key meetings with the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the Crown Prince. Additionally, delegation-level talks with the Kuwaiti Prime Minister will cover a broad spectrum of topics, including politics, trade, investment, energy, culture, and people-to-people relations, to deepen bilateral ties.

The Prime Minister arrived in Kuwait on Saturday to a grand reception. As part of his engagements, he visited a labour camp in the Mina Abdullah area, interacting with Indian workers and discussing their welfare. Modi highlighted various initiatives launched by the Indian government to benefit overseas workers and ensure their well-being.

Later, PM Modi addressed the Indian diaspora at the ‘Hala Modi’ event held at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex. He praised the Indian community's significant contributions to Kuwait’s development and their role in strengthening India-Kuwait relations. Modi also invited them to participate in global events such as the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and the Maha Kumbh, emphasizing India’s rise as a global development hub and a growth engine for the world economy.

This historic visit, undertaken at the invitation of the Amir of Kuwait, aims to bolster India's already robust partnership with Kuwait. It is expected to enhance collaboration in political and economic spheres while fostering cultural and people-to-people connections.

PM Modi’s engagements during the visit will lay the groundwork for a future-focused and mutually beneficial relationship between India and Kuwait.
