Travel bag murder: ‘chopped up in Chennai, body parts in biryani pot’
text_fieldsAgra/Chennai: The investigation into the murder of a young woman whose dismembered remains were found inside a red travel bag at Agra Cantt railway station has taken a crucial turn, with police tracing the suspected killers to a rented house in Chennai.
According to the preliminary investigation, the woman was allegedly murdered and her body dismembered at the house in Guduvanchery, where a man and a woman suspected of involvement had been staying. Police said the victim’s body was found hanging from the roof, while some of the dismembered remains were reportedly kept in a large vessel used for cooking biryani, according to reports.
CCTV footage from Chennai Central railway station has emerged as a key lead. Investigators reportedly identified a man and a woman carrying the red travel bag before boarding the Tamil Nadu Express bound for Agra. The bag was later abandoned in the train’s general compartment.
The discovery was made on August 6 at Agra Cantt station after railway officials noticed a suspicious red bag with human remains protruding from it. A polythene cover marked “Chennai” found inside the bag further strengthened the investigators’ focus on the city.
Police are examining CCTV footage from Chennai Central and other locations, along with railway travel records, to reconstruct the suspects’ movements and establish when the bag was placed on the train. Complaints concerning missing persons are also being checked.
The identities of the victim and the two suspected perpetrators remain unconfirmed, while the motive for the killing is yet to be established. The recovered body parts have been sent for post-mortem examination as investigators continue to piece together the gruesome murder.
