SRK greets Aryan's bail news with 'tears of joy,' says lawyer Rohatgi
text_fieldsMumbai: Mukul Rohatgi, who represented Aryan Khan before Bombay High Court, said that Shah Rukh Khan had given up all professional activities in the past three weeks and greeted the news of bail for his son with "tears of joy". Aryan Khan was arrested in connection with the Mumbai drugs-on-cruise case.
Former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi told NDTV that SRK has been "very, very worried about the last three-four days." He added that SRK may not have had proper meals and was just having coffee after coffee. "I could see a big sense of relief, yeah, on the father's face last time I met him."
Bombay High Court granted Aryan Khan bail after a hearing that lasted three days. Rohatgi argued that no drugs were recovered on Khan. The lower court had denied the bail plea twice and Aryan Khan spent 24 days in jail. He is likely to remain in jail till Saturday while his team applies for release.
Rohatgi argued in High Court that the Narcotics Control Bureau has built the entire case on two-year-old WhatsApp chats and grounds for arrest are "very flimsy." He said that the WhatsApp chats are irrelevant to the cruise case and the arrest is infringed under the circumstances.
Rohatgi said that SRK and Gauri Khan were taking "great interest in the case" and "were very much available at all times." He added that Shah Rukh Khan was making notes to help his legal team, reported NDTV.
Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan had not attended the bail hearings. SRK had visited his son at Mumbai's Arthur Road jail on October 21.
