Senior party leaders excluded from BJP's top body
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Prominent leaders who air their opinion publicly critiquing the party's shortcomings have not seen their names in the BJP's 80-member national executive. The list appears to have excluded BJP MP Varun Gandhi, his mother Maneka Gandhi, Subramanian Swamy and former Union minister Birender Singh.
Varun Gandhi whose vociferous criticisms on Lakhimpur Khiri violence through Twitter, however, brushed off the assertion of his being excluded in the 80-member national executive, saying he was not an attendee of the NEC for the last five years.
Varun is of the stand that despite BJP's downplaying the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, the culprits, whoever they are, should be brought to justice. He even posted the video of the SUV ramming into the protesting farmers a couple of times on Twitter.
Varun was the only BJP leader who took a strong stand against the Lakhimpur Kheri issue, in which the son of a BJP Union Minister has been accused of murder. Ashish Mishra, the son of BJP's minister of state for home affairs Ajay Mishra, has not been arrested. Earlier in the day, the Uttar Pradesh police summoned him for questioning.
