Anil Baijal, the Delhi Lit Governor, rejected a weekend curfew and limit on market operations proposed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, amidst a decline in the Covid-19 positivity rate.

According to sources, Baijal has requested the government to keep the status quo until Covid-19 is fully resolved.

In a letter to Baijal on Friday, Kejriwal urged the withdrawal of the weekend curfew and to establish an odd-even system of business openings as the positivity rate in Delhi dropped.

Since January 7, a weekend curfew has been in effect in the city as 17,335 new Covid cases were reported in the city - the most in the previous eight months, with positivity rates rising to 17.73 percent.

Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) announces the curfew based upon the infection rate, as determined by the Graded Action Response Plan (GARP), under which is decided what activities would be allowed under what circumstances if there was a surge in Covid cases. Alert levels are classified into four categories: yellow, amber, orange, and red.

From December 28, 2021 until now, Delhi has been under level 1 restrictions.

According to a health bulletin, the number of people testing positive for Coronavirus 19 (Covid-19) in Delhi fell by 12306 on Thursday.

Additionally, the positive case rate in the national capital decreased to 21.48 per cent from 23.86 per cent the previous day.
