Jaipur: Rajasthan has imposed section 144 in Ajmer district and banned flag-hoisting in religious ceremonies in the urban and rural areas, along with loud music, IANS reported.

According to officials, the new restrictions are in view of the festivals of Ram Navami and Mahavir Jayanti falling on April 10 and 14, respectively. Both festivals feature grand processions in Ajmer. The district collector issued the order late on Thursday but did not name any festival.

Recently, communal violence had broken out in the Karauli district of Rajasthan, where a Hindu religious procession faced stone-pelting. Following that, many shops and vehicles were set on fire and destroyed.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Vasudev Devnani slammed the prohibitory measure. He called it the 'Tughlaqi decree', which was imposed first in Kota and Bikaner and now in Ajmer.

After the release of the film 'The Kashmir Files', section 144 was issued in Kota, citing security reasons. In Bikaner, the same was imposed on the first week of April before the Hindu Dharma Yatra and Maha Aarti. BJP had vehemently opposed it then also.

In the meantime, #antihindugehlot has been trending on Twitter since early on Friday. Different news has surfaced on a government order ensuring regular supply in the minority areas during Ramzan. Many have questioned on social media why Navratri was not mentioned in the order. Further, a reference to the demolition of the entry gate of Salasar temple and the Karauli violence was also being made in the social media posts.
