Kasaragode: India's leading economist and fascist critic, Parakala Prabhakar, slammed the RSS earlier this week, saying that Sangh Parivar is destroying the country inch by inch. Husband to Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Prabhakar, said that things are moving towards a situation where the very word secularism will be removed from the social condition of the country.

Speaking at a program organised by Kanhangad Secular Forum on Monday, he said that Sangh Parivar has brought the country to such a state that even other parties hesitate to use the word secularism. According to BJP leader LK Advani's autobiography, Muslims must be dealt with rejection, which is what the party is following, he said, pointing out that there is no Muslim representation in the union government. BJP has no Muslim representatives in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh as well, he said.

The democratic nature of the country's parliamentary system is also disappearing. The passing of the Farm Laws without any discussion is an example, which was withdrawn only after a great agitation. Now, the situation is that bills are passed and withdrawn without discussions in the House.

He continued that another issue that is still under a smoke screen is the Modi government's demonetisation. There are inflation on commodities, including food, on the rise, and unemployment is at an all-time high. Even when the economy is collapsing like this, the Sangh Parivar is spreading communalism in the minds of the people.

Prabhakar had criticised the BJP government even before. His book 'The Crooked Timber of New India: Essays on a Republic in Crisis' criticised the Modi regime and created a stir in the BJP as well as in the national political arena. The book strongly criticises the BJP's anti-people policies and financial blunders. In an interview related to the book, he openly stated that Modi is not efficient in governance but is an expert in creating division in society and creating communal hatred.

He said that if the BJP comes to power again in 2024, there will be total destruction in the country as the party will turn the country into Hindu Rashtra. Modi's incompetence, including in the economic field and many other areas, should be noted, he said.

According to him, though Modi is a total failure in many things, he is excellent at creating communal hatred and division in society.
