Muslim Amazon delivery boy attacked after verifying him as Muslim in Hyderabad
text_fieldsHyderabad: A 20-year-old Amazon delivery boy, named Sheikh Rehan Fayaz, has allegedly been subjected to a brutal attack by several individuals, including businessman KP Vishal Goud, after verifying his identity as Muslim, making a case of hate crime in Hyderabad.
Businessman KP Vishal Goud is a relative of Quthbullapur MLA KP Vivekananda Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
According to reports, Rehan was taken to a different location under the pretext of a delivery issue. There, he was subjected to a barrage of verbal abuse and asked to prove his identity, which quickly escalated into a violent assault. The attackers, wielding cricket bats and stumps, left Rehan with severe fractures to his hands and legs.
Jeedimetla inspector M Pavan countered the allegations, refuting claims that the police disregarded the initial complaint. The case, as per Inspector Pavan, was officially lodged on August 10.
The accused individuals, including KP Vishal Goud, face a series of charges under the pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), encompassing wrongful restraint, voluntary infliction of severe injury, and the act of criminal intimidation. This disturbing incident casts a sombre shadow over the region, raising concerns about communal harmony and safety.
The Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson, Amjadullah Khan, has levelled serious allegations against the police. Khan asserts that the law enforcement agency, on the day of the incident, initially opted against registering a case, and shockingly, Rehan was not promptly transported to a medical facility for urgent treatment.
Following his medical examination at a private hospital, Rehan sought the assistance of MBT, which played a pivotal role in facilitating his renewed interaction with the police.
