Srinagar: Kashmir Zone Police said that a migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh was shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama.

The area where the shooting occurred has been cordoned off, according to authorities.

The police taking to social media platform X said: “Terrorists fired upon one labourer identified as Mukesh of U.P in Tumchi Nowpora area of Pulwama, who later on succumbed to his injuries. Area cordoned off.”

The attack on migrant worker turns out to be the second in Pulwama over the past 24 hours, NDTV reported.

On Sunday, Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani was shot dead while playing cricket at Eidgah area.

In the wake of sporadic attacks, Security forces have started checking vehicles in Pulwama and other places.

Mobile vehicle checkpoints have been set up at all major intersections in Srinagar and at the city's exit points, according to NDTV.

Another report this morning said joint operation on Sunday by police and army foiled infiltration attempt in North Kashmir's Kupwara district.

A terrorist was reportedly killed during the joint operation to stop the infiltration, according to IANS.

“In a joint operation that commenced yesterday, Army and Kupwara Police have successfully foiled an infiltration attempt in Jumagund area of Keran sector in which one terrorist has been killed," police said.

This is the second infiltration bid foiled in Kupwara in less than a week.

On October 26 an infiltration bid was successfully foiled in a joint operation launched by Police and Army along the Line of Control in Machil Sector of Kupwara district.
