Marrying herself was an emotional experience: Kshama Bindu
text_fieldsAhmedabad: Kshama Bindu appeared decked out in her finery for wedding herself in India's first 'sologamy' on Wednesday.
An image of Kshama Bindu showed her in brocaded red sari and a silvery tiara bordering her forehead.
On the forehead, smack in the middle of hairline she placed a vermilion bindi assuming the role of the bridegroom, to solemnize the nuptial bond.
Kshama Bindu from Gujarat, who became first Indian woman to marry herself, said afterwards that putting Sindoor was an emotional moment for her.
She put on a garland and a "mangalsutra" which she felt quite emotional too, reports say.
Kshama Bindu later said as a child she toyed with the idea of becoming a bride.
She planned the wedding on June 11 and venue was chosen but the priest backed out at the last moment.
Afterwards she decided to get married in her home without have to cause troubles at the temple.
The hymns and mantras were played on Bluetooth speakers as there was no priest, according reports.
Only eight of her friends showed up for the wedding after the change date and venue of the wedding.
As she walked around the sacred fire for seven times she made seven promises to herself which she would abide by.
Bindu's decision to marry herself was a reaction to many gender biases in households where women sit in the kitchen while men enjoy snacks in the hall, she said.
As a newly wedded, Kshama Bindu is planning a honeymoon sometime.
Another solomay recently was reported from Sao Paulo in Brazil, where 33-year-old Cris Galera married herself claiming she was bored with relying on one man.
However, 90 days after the wedding she divorced herself saying that he has met "someone special'.
