Kharge, not Tharoor, can bring stability to Congress: G23's Manish Tewari

New Delhi: The internal poll in Congress is slipping into the familiar groove of divisive politics, it seems.
At least some party insiders believe the Congress will emerge from the polls a lot weaker than it is now.
Rather than discussing ideas for rejuvenating the party, it is centered on official candidate and the popular choice: Malikarjun Kharge and Sashi Tharoor respectively.
Now senior Congress leader Manish Tewari came out in the open supporting Kharge, bringing to fore Tharoor's concern of having no level paying ground.
Tewari feels Malikarjun Kharge can provide the stability that Congress needs.
Tewari was quoted by India Today as saying that Kharge has grown from the lowest posts in the party. Congress needs stability which he thought Kharge could provide.
He was speaking about the G23 leaders' support for Kharge over Shashi Tharoor in the presidential polls on October 17.
Tewari's response comes days after Tharoor complained of some leaders openly backing Mallikarjun Kharge.
It was then Tharoor lamented about having no level playing field.
This is apparent when senior leaders chose not to greet Tharoor when he visited their states, while warming up to Kharge, according to the report.
The 80-year-old Kharge, who is largely seen a choice of the Gandhi family, said both candidates are "like brothers".
Most experts believe that Kharge is more likely to win the Congress internal polls when it will be out on October 19.
