Karanataka schools to reopen on Monday amid hijab row
text_fieldsHubballi (Karnataka): Basavaraj Bommai, chief minister of Karnataka, warned troublemakers Sunday that legal action would be taken if they disrupted the opening of schools.
During a press conference in Hubballi, Bommai spoke with reporters.
"Our officers are monitoring social media postings, as well as gathering information on their own. I am now concerned about making sure schools and colleges open as early as possible and creating a peaceful learning environment.
Students should concentrate on their upcoming examinations in March. Investigation agencies will handle everything else," said the official.
District Commissioners and school management were instructed to conduct peace meetings ahead of the reopening of high schools tomorrow (Monday). Classes will be held peacefully, Bommai said.
Upon ensuring all preparations have been made, a decision will be made in regards to the reopening of colleges. "Colleges will function during the reopening in a cordial environment. Reopening schools and colleges is our first priority.
The Education Minister has been requested to produce a report. A decision will be reached based on that report." he said.
According to Bommai, the state's economy has suffered greatly due to Covid over the last two years, and it is hoped to boost the economy through the budget.
"Our revenue collections are improving. Priority will be given to the lowest and poorest person in the population," he said. "We are keeping an eye on economic progress, the welfare of our people, and financial discipline," he said.
