Infosys lay off: female trainee banished from campus at night!
text_fieldsMysuru: Major tech firm Infosys caught in a storm after it laid off around 300 trainee employees last week, as claimed by the company.
Among those who lost their jobs, there were people who were admitted after two years of being served with offer letters and were fired just 6 months into employment. There are allegations that some were forced to sign contracts, and they were paid just Rs 25,000 as compensation.
It is reported that a female trainee who got fired was forced to leave the campus at night despite her begging for shelter for the night. Deccan Herald quoted her begging, "Please let me stay the night. I will leave tomorrow. Where will I go right now," and an official replied to her, "We don’t know. You are no longer part of the company. Vacate the premises by 6 pm."
According to reports, the company initiated a massive layoff of 700 trainees as per a statement by NITES, a union of IT professionals, after they failed certain internal assessment tests.
Deccan Herald reported that hundreds of trainees flocked to find transport to their hometowns and were anxious over how to break the news that they lost their jobs to their families.
Infosys had said that they put their trainees through a rigorous hiring p[process, and they were supposed to clear internal assessments during their foundational training. All freshers were offered three attempts to clear the tests, and those who failed all three cannot continue in the firm, which is mentioned in their contacts, Infosys said.
Some of the terminated told the media that a batch of trainees received a mail that read, “You are required to maintain confidentiality hence, please do not discuss this or share this calendar invite with anyone,”
There were Infosys’s US clients and employees from their digital banking system. Finacle was present on the campus, and therefore, “buses were used as shields where fired trainees were summoned before they were terminated one by one.
