Gujarat woman set to marry herself out of self-love
text_fieldsVadodara: Tired of understanding the need for a life partner, the 24-year-old Kshama Bindu decides to marry herself to accomplish her dream of becoming a bride. All the preparations are in the process to perform the sologamy which is scheduled for June 11.
Kshama, who is from Vadodara, Gujarat, believes that it is important for everyone to make their own decisions about life. From the very beginning, she has not found any interest in finding a life partner. Yet, this doesn't prevent her from performing the act of marriage which has prompted her for sologamy.
With complete support from friends and family, Kshama, who also works in a private firm, will marry herself in traditional custom which includes pheras and applying sindoor.
By taking up the privilege as one of the firsts to perform sologamy, Kshama also believes in sharing the message that speaks for the need for self-love.
"Self-marriage is a commitment to be there for yourself and unconditional love for oneself. People marry someone they love. I love myself and hence this wedding." said Ms. Bindu while speaking to The Times of India.
Being well aware of the criticisms that might arise following the decision, she said, "What I am trying to portray is that women matter."
The marriage ceremony also includes five vows written to herself, which will later be followed by a honeymoon trip to Goa.
