In light of rumours that the CBSE has released the tentative dates of class 10, 12 exams, a CBSE official clarified otherwise today.

"We have not declared any dates yet," said the official, as reported by NDTV.

The rumours began following a statement by CBSE secretary Anurag Tripathi at a webinar on the New Education Policy (NEP) organized by ASSOCHAM on Friday. He said, "The board exams will happen for sure and a schedule will be announced very soon. The CBSE is making plans and will soon reveal how it will do test assessments." He did not mention the pattern or dates of the exams.

But rumours developed a day later that the CBSE has decided to conduct class 12 practical exams between January 1st and February 8th. There have also been reports of the board releasing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) on conducting these exams. The latest SOPs released on the website, however, pertain to the reopening of schools.

Schools across the country have been shut down since March 2021 owing to the pandemic. Classes for the new academic year are being conducted virtually. While a few states have been reopening schools following the guidelines released by the Centre, many have chosen to keep them closed considering the threat of increasing COVID-19 cases.
