New Delhi: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has introduced the 'AICTE Placement Portal' with the primary objective of providing equitable employment opportunities to students residing in rural and tribal areas.

The inauguration of this portal was conducted virtually and witnessed participation from over 600 AICTE institutions and industry partners.

TG Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, said that this innovative platform is designed to alleviate the challenges faced by students in rural and tribal regions, particularly those pursuing technical courses like engineering, by directly connecting them with numerous multinational corporations.

He expressed the significance of the placement portal in bridging the employment gap between urban and rural areas, stating that it "can be a powerful tool to help bridge the gap between urban and rural areas in terms of access to employment opportunities. It will serve as a platform for connecting rural students with MNCs, industries, and other employers."

The portal promises registered students access to a plethora of job opportunities tailored to their field of expertise, with over 4,000 companies already expressing interest in participating. Sitharam envisioned the portal as a premier resource for employers seeking to tap into the talent pool of reputable engineering and management colleges across the nation.

In addition to its existing features, the AICTE Placement Portal is slated for integration with the AICTE Internship Portal, enhancing the range of opportunities available to students. The portal's user-friendly design ensures accessibility, even in areas with limited internet connectivity and slower network speeds.

One of the notable achievements of this initiative is its expansion of services to over 6 lakh villages and tribal regions, effectively addressing language barriers by offering content in multiple languages.

By narrowing the divide between rural students and employment prospects and equipping them with the tools needed to succeed in the job market, the portal has the potential to foster a more inclusive and equitable economy, according to the AICTE.

The portal boasts essential features, including accessibility for students with limited access to high-speed internet. It encompasses job listings, career guidance, networking tools, and resources for employers interested in recruiting students from rural areas. This promising venture represents a significant stride towards providing rural and tribal students with equal opportunities in the job market.
