The trailer for "Ullozhukku" (Undercurrent), starring Parvathy Thiruvothu and Urvashi, promises a gripping narrative where the lines between right and wrong gradually blur.

Directed by Christo Tomy, known for his Netflix documentary "Curry & Cyanide: The Jolly Joseph Case," the film is set in the flood-affected region of Kuttanad.

The two-minute-long trailer reveals a tension-filled plot centered around the funeral of Josootty (Prashanth Murali), whose body remains in a freezer box as his mother (Urvashi) insists on burying him in their ancestral grave despite the ongoing heavy rains. Josootty’s pregnant wife (Parvathy) and his mother are at odds, with hidden secrets causing strain.

Parvathy’s character expresses her desire to leave after the funeral, to which Urvashi responds, “You are free to go wherever you want; but I want my son’s child,” highlighting the beginning of a domestic conflict.

The trailer also hints at the tumultuous relationship between Parvathy’s character and her husband Josootty, suggesting potential abuse. Parvathy’s line, “Being married doesn’t make someone a husband,” underscores the complexity of their relationship.

The trailer concludes with the message, “Everyone has something to hide; Lies will drown; Secrets will surface,” setting the tone for an intense and suspenseful film.

"Ullozhukku" is jointly produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Honey Trehan, and Abhishek Chaubey. The film's cinematography is by Shehnad Jalal, with Kiran Das handling the editing. The script, penned by Tomy, promises a story filled with intrigue and emotional depth.

The film is set to release on June 21.
