Mahindra records 16% sales growth in January 2025, driven by strong SUV demand
text_fieldsMahindra & Mahindra has started the year on a positive note, reporting a 16% increase in total sales for January 2025.
The company continues to dominate the SUV segment in India, though it faced some setbacks in its commercial vehicle division.
Mahindra has successfully aligned its offerings with Indian consumers’ preferences, strengthening its position in the passenger vehicle market. Popular models such as the Mahindra Thar, Thar Roxx, XUV700, Scorpio, XUV 3XO, and Bolero have contributed to this growth.
However, the company saw a 12% decline in the LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) < 2T segment, with sales dropping from 4,039 units in January 2024 to 3,541 units in January 2025. On the other hand, other commercial vehicle categories showed modest growth. LCV 2T sales rose by 5% and LCV 3.5T sales increased by 4%. LCV 3.5T + MHCV (Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles) sales grew by 2%.
Commenting on the performance, Veejay Nakra, President of the Automotive Division at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., stated, “We began the new year with strong momentum, selling 50,659 SUVs, marking an 18% growth, and achieving total vehicle sales of 85,432 units, reflecting a 16% rise.”
He also highlighted the enthusiasm around Mahindra’s upcoming electric SUVs, the BE6 and XEV 9E, which received significant attention at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi.
Test drives for these models began on January 14, and the company is set to open bookings on February 14.
