Sharjah is preparing to unveil the UAE's first Holy Quran TV channel, set to go live with a trial broadcast on Friday, August 16. The channel will feature religious content, including "fresh and exclusive recitations" of the Holy Quran.
The new platform will offer viewers 24/7 access to Quranic recitations, including a daily khatmah – a full recitation of the Quran from start to end by renowned reciters. Short educational programs aimed at simplifying religious concepts will also air, helping the general public better understand the Holy Quran.
"The goal is to enhance the correct understanding of the Holy Quran and present its interpretations in a way that suits today's generation," authorities stated.
The Holy Quran Channel is a project by the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority (SBA), initiated under the direction of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
"It also reflects the Sharjah Ruler's keenness to spread the teachings of the Holy Quran and create a media platform that specialises in producing purposeful and inspiring religious content," said SBA director Salem Ali Al Ghaithi.
The emirate hopes to set a new standard for religious media through this channel, according to Khalifa Hassan Khalaf, director of the Holy Quran Channel and Radio.
