UAE launches 'unified numbers' initiative to enhance data-driven policy-making

The UAE Government has unveiled a nationwide initiative aimed at revolutionizing the country's statistical framework to support evidence-based policy-making. Announced on Tuesday, the project will involve collaboration between all local governments and their respective statistical centers.

Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, emphasized the importance of data-driven governance during the launch. “The achievements in statistics and data in the UAE serve as a cornerstone for ongoing development efforts, uniting us as a cohesive national team,” he said.

The initiative, named "Unified UAE Numbers," focuses on three core areas: fostering a proactive economy, enhancing societal welfare, and promoting sustainability and renewable energy. It aims to streamline the national statistical release calendar and ensure accurate production of key national indicators.

The initiative also aims to improve the UAE’s global competitiveness by providing detailed data on GDP, inflation, foreign investment, infrastructure and other critical sectors.

The project also seeks to foster international cooperation and position the UAE favorably in global rankings.

A key feature of the project is the shift towards integrated digital surveys and advanced data collection methods. By leveraging modern technologies and digital platforms, the initiative aims to establish a unified data environment. This will facilitate strategic decision-making to drive national development.

“With the availability of data, the UAE Government can make well-informed decisions and policies backed by accurate and comprehensive statistics, enhancing the nation's competitiveness in key development sectors,” Sheikh Mansour stated.
