The Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah has approved the first phase of a major project for rainwater and groundwater drainage, with an estimated cost of Dh400 million. The plan includes the extension of the Main Line, spanning 4.9 kilometers and reaching a depth of 20 meters. The project follows the directives of Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.
The approval was announced during the Council’s weekly meeting, chaired by Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Governor of Sharjah, along with Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Governor and Vice Chairman of the Executive Council.
In addition to the drainage project, the Executive Council issued a resolution concerning real estate development in Sharjah. This resolution includes legal measures aimed at regulating real estate projects, most notably the introduction of a bank guarantee account to safeguard the rights of all parties involved in such developments. The new regulations will come into effect starting May 1, 2025.
