Ramadan Souq 2026 draws 1.82 million visitors to Deira Grand Souk

Dubai Municipality said Ramadan Souq 2026 drew 1.82 million visitors to Old Baladiya Street in Deira Grand Souk, a 12.4 per cent increase on last year, with more than 200,000 additional visitors.

The annual market coincided with the “Al Welfa” season, which focuses on family cohesion and Emirati traditions. Officials said the turnout reflects efforts to strengthen the souq’s role as a leading heritage and community event in the emirate.

Participants, including traditional shop owners, traders, entrepreneurs and People of Determination, reported a 35 per cent rise in sales compared with 2025. The program featured heritage performances, competitions, handicraft workshops and kiosks offering local products. Government and private sector partnerships supported the event.

Asem Al Qassim, Director of the Architectural Heritage and Antiquities Department at Dubai Municipality, said the results highlight ongoing work to activate historic districts and heritage markets, linking authenticity with contemporary programming. He said the initiative supports the preservation of Dubai’s architectural and historical identity while strengthening its global cultural standing. He added that future editions will include further initiatives to expand social, economic and cultural impact.

This year’s edition saw an expansion in activities, with new additions including a henna corner, face painting, a traditional gypsum workshop, a planting workshop and Arabic calligraphy sessions, along with a dedicated children’s play area.

Dubai Municipality organises the Ramadan Souq annually to combine traditional Ramadan shopping with cultural and community activities while supporting tourism, small and medium-sized enterprises and commercial activity in historic markets.
