The Indian Embassy in Riyadh celebrated Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and World Hindi Day, with members of the Indian community attending a program focused on history, language and cultural engagement.
As part of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas observance, Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna delivered a keynote lecture titled “Mahatma Gandhi as a Pravasi in South Africa”. The address examined Gandhi’s years abroad and their role in shaping his political thought and commitment to Satyagraha.
The session was followed by a stage performance by Indian school students, who presented a skit portraying key episodes from Gandhi’s life, highlighting his principles of truth and non-violence.
World Hindi Day events included presentations by winners of Hindi Day competitions held earlier. Participants demonstrated their work before the audience, after which the Ambassador presented prizes and certificates in recognition of their performance.
During the program, the Ambassador, along with members of the All India Steering Committee, released a commemorative booklet titled ‘Pravasi Parichay.’ The publication details plans for a forthcoming weeklong Indian Cultural Festival aimed at engaging the diaspora.
Attendees said the combined observance reflected ongoing efforts to promote cultural awareness and language among younger members of the community.
