Dubai’s Metro Music Festival returns this month, bringing an eclectic blend of music, creativity and cultural exchange to the city. The Dubai Media Office announced that the fourth edition of the festival will take place from September 21 to 27 at five major metro stations across the city. The daily performances, scheduled between 5pm and 10pm, will rotate among Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, BurJuman, Union and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre stations.
Organized by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the festival promises to transform the city’s metro stations into vibrant hubs of music and art. Twenty talented musicians from the UAE and around the world will showcase their skills, offering metro commuters a unique and immersive musical experience.
The festival features a diverse lineup of artists, blending traditional music with avant-garde performances. Commuters will be treated to a wide array of musical styles, ranging from classical and contemporary to innovative fusion performances.
This year’s festival will highlight an impressive range of instruments from different parts of the globe, including the Qanun, keyboard, drums, accordion, flute, violin, saxophone and piano. Other unique instruments such as the balafon, darbuka, keytar, marimba and various percussion instruments will also be featured. Audiences will witness performances on the electric guitar, hand pans, pipe drum and even homemade instruments created from everyday objects.
With performances designed to appeal to all age groups, the Metro Music Festival promises an exciting lineup. One of the highlights includes a performance by a nine-year-old prodigy playing the Qanun. Additionally, a 14-year-old Emirati boy with autism will captivate audiences with his piano performance.
There will also be a showcase of instruments crafted from recycled materials, a street artist celebrating traditional heritage music, beatboxing acts and a puppet show accompanied by live music. For younger audiences, the festival will feature a unique drumming show with children, alongside eye-catching performances that include drumming acts enhanced by light effects.
This year’s festival aims to provide commuters with more than just music—it offers a dynamic cultural experience, transforming everyday commutes into something special. Whether inside the metro cabins or at the stations, every performance is designed to bring joy, surprise and a sense of community to the bustling city.
With a week-long series of performances, the Dubai Metro Music Festival will once again blend global rhythms, artistic innovation and local talent, making the city’s metro stations the epicenter of musical celebration this September.
