Dubai’s upcoming Blue Line metro stations will feature a sleek, futuristic design, as showcased by a model recently displayed at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) stand during the Global Rail conference on Tuesday. The station’s design, characterized by a smooth, curved structure, is highlighted by a large oval-shaped enclosure arching over the tracks, differing from the fully-enclosed stations on the Red and Green Lines.
The modern aesthetic extends to the station’s side structures, which house exits and feature symmetrical, curved designs. A video presentation at the RTA stand demonstrated how the Blue Line will serve densely populated areas such as Mirdiff, International City, and Academic City.
One of the Blue Line’s standout features is the 1,300-metre-long viaduct that will support the elevated railway as it crosses Dubai Creek. This viaduct will connect Al Jaddaf with Dubai Festival City and Dubai Creek Harbour, providing a crucial link that will significantly reduce travel time for commuters.
The 30-kilometre Blue Line, expected to be completed by 2029, will serve as a key integration point between the Red and Green Lines. This development is part of Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan, which focuses on creating a '20-minute city,' ensuring that 80% of essential services will be accessible to residents within a 20-minute journey.
