Starting Saturday, August 3, Dubai Metro will implement separate trips for Expo 2020 and UAE Exchange Metro stations, as announced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Friday.
Passengers on the Red Line must ensure they board the correct train for their destination. Display screens at Metro stations will indicate train routes and commuters are urged to check the information before boarding.
In April, RTA announced the Dubai Metro Red Line would operate a Y junction, eliminating the need for passengers to interchange at Jabal Ali Metro Station. This allows direct travel between Centrepoint and UAE Exchange without changing trains at Jabal Ali Interchange Station.
In June, the Dubai Executive Council revealed plans to add more stations, expanding from the current 64 stations over 84 square kilometers to 96 stations over 140 square kilometers by 2030, and 140 stations over 228 square kilometers by 2040.
This expansion aims to increase public transport usage to 45 percent, reduce carbon emissions to 16 tonnes per capita, and enhance the efficiency and convenience of sustainable transport.
