Jerusalem: In a savage conduct by Israeli forces, a Palestinian man was horizontally tied to the bonnet of a military vehicle. Harrowing footage of the incident, which occurred on Saturday and went viral on social media, was during a raid in the occupied West Bank, Agence France-Presse reported.
The army, however, admitted on Sunday that its soldiers violated operational procedures.
The person who had been tied to the military jeep was a resident of Jenin, and the vehicle was passing a narrow alley.
The military said the Palestinian was wounded during a "counterterrorism operation" launched to apprehend wanted suspects.
According to the military, the Palestinian was wounded in the car when the forces were performing a "counterterrorism operation" launched to catch wanted suspects.
It said in a statement, "In violation of orders and standard operating procedures, the suspect was taken by the forces while tied on top of a vehicle," AFP quoted. The military claimed that the conduct of the forces in the video of the incident does not conform to the values of the Israel Defence Force (IDF).
It said that the incident will be "investigated and dealt with accordingly". It added that the person tied to the jeep had been transferred to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
Since Jenin remained a stronghold for Palestinians, the Israeli army conducted routine marches and raids there and the adjacent refugee camp.
There was violence in the West Bank for a long, but it intensified after the October 7 attack by Hamas in Israel, and the Israel offence followed. After the October attack, 549 Palestinians were killed in the West Bank alone.
