The Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has reported significant rainfall across eight regions of Saudi Arabia, with the National Center for Meteorology recording the highest amount in the Madinah region at 37.4 millimetres. The rainfall was observed between 9 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday, impacting areas including Makkah, Madinah, Qassim, Aseer, Tabuk, Jazan, Najran and Al-Baha.
In Madinah, the airport registered 35.2 millimetres of rain, while 27.6 millimetres were recorded at Haram. Makkah experienced 17.4 millimetres in Yalamlam and Al-Leith, with Al-Leith Dam receiving 8 millimetres. Other regions also saw rainfall, with Qassim’s Uqlat Al Saqoor recording 1.8 millimetres and Al-Baha’s Bilkhazmar and Al Mandaq receiving 28.6 millimetres.
In response to the heavy rainfall, the Directorate General of Civil Defense issued warnings to the public, advising against swimming in areas with accumulated water and cautioning against crossing valleys, which can pose significant dangers after rain. The Civil Defense also urged citizens and residents to adhere to safety instructions disseminated through media channels and social media platforms.
